Acura doesn’t definitely require special introduction. As the luxury marque of the Honda it established strong reputation with its luxury and performance vehicles. Acura MDX is one of its best products and one of the strongest sellers in the class as well. On the other hand it is also among the oldest nameplates in brand’s lineup. So, if you want the vehicle which will drive your big family and goods down the road comfortably and safely you should definitely consider 2018 Acura MDX as the top priority.
The Acura MDX has been soldiering in its third generation since the 2014 model year. However, the model got new energy and strength with the last model year refresh. It brought many improvements including redefined styling, more standard equipment, safety and tech features. It also added new Sport Hybrid version which can deliver better mileage and more power than conventional versions. So, this three-raw crossover SUV is ready to soldier for several years with minor changes. In that context you should not expect big changes for the 2018 version.
2018 Acura MDX: Design
Exterior design of the model is important piece of the puzzle and Acura has done some work in that regard for the 2017 model. This model is actually the first that implements brand’s new design language. This new thinking debuted on the Precision concept model and MDX applied this strategy. It redefines brand’s old styling strategy with new grille’s design which takes diamond pentagonal form. Modernized jewel eye headlights follow new grille design. However, the MDX also sports a new hood and resculpted front fenders.
Refreshed model also features additional trim inserts in lower body area and some rear side changes. Dual exhaust ports and small roof mounted spoiler give sports tone to its rear end. However, chrome strip on tailgate and in bumper area provide classy sense. So, in terms of the exterior styling, the 2018 Acura MDX might only introduce new color options and wheel designs but not much else.
Stepping inside, you will definitely find that somewhat similar design strategy is echoed in interior design. You will notice that design of the dash features similar contours as the model’s front end. But stylish look is also reflected into interior which offers high-level of comfort but also functionality. The space is well-arranged and seats are comfortable.
The model also features great build quality and offers modern tech and safety features. Upgraded infotainment system will solve some previous issues and will be easier to use. Standard features will include automatic LED headlights, power lift gate, heated mirrors, a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, etc.
Passengers will also have a chance to enjoy in standard leather upholstery, power and heated front seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, three zone climate control, Smartphone compatibility, premium sound system, HD and satellite radio, Siri Eyes Free, etc.
Additional packages will upgrade with larger wheels, navigation, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, perforated upholstery, rear entertainment, and more safety features and so on.
However, in terms of safety all models will come with Acura Watch suite that covers features like multi angle rear vision camera, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation and collision braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, etc.

Paired with a nine speed automatic transmission the engine produces power for standard front wheel drive. Bur Acura’s Super Handling four-wheel drive system comes as an option. It provides rear wheel torque vectoring.
On the other hand, the Sport Hybrid version combines a 3.0 liter V-6 engine and trio of electric motors. Two of electric motors provide power and torque vectoring for the rear wheels. The third motor is the component of the seven speed transmission. Total power that this advanced system can produce will be around 325 hp.
