Audi’s small crossover, the Q2 debuted at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show and marked the begging of brand’s new crossover offensive which will bring more high-riding vehicles with the four-ring badge. Designed under the inspection of Marc Lichte, this model features more stylish exterior with the coupe-like profile and some unique styling tweaks. Still easily recognizable as the Audi, this crossover is also spacious inside and bring the level of the equipment which is hard to match. The model also delivers good on-road focused performance combined with agile handling and competitive fuel economy. The next model version comes as the 2018 Audi Q2 and with no significant changes.
2018 Audi Q2: Design
The 2018 Audi Q2 comes based on VW’s ubiquitous MQB platform which also forms the foundation of the A3 hatchback and VW Golf. This platform allows different powertrain applications but also means the additional technologies which can be used with it.
Visually, the Q2 is the step forward with the styling that is more expressive than on Audi’s larger crossovers. Up front, the model has brand’s single frame-grille but this time it comes in the octagonal form. The front also bears angular headlights with nice graphic and aggressively shaped air inserts in the front bumper.
The profile is also sportier with pronounced lines and lower roofline. The rear is defined by cube-shaped LED taillights and pair of the exhaust pipes.
The base models come with the 16-inch wheels which can be replaced with sportier 17- and 18-inch units that are the part of upper trim levels.
Inside, the Q2 is spacious enough for four people to feel comfortable. The model also delivers 14.2 cubic feet of the cargo space.
Audi also offers different types of upholstery and number of interior colors combined with plenty of available luxuries. With the high-level of comfort features, Audi Q2 also can be loaded with “tons” of advanced technology. The high-spec versions replace the analog gauges with the 12.3-inch virtual cockpit. The two sizes of the center display will be available with brand’s newest infotainment features. The Q2 will also offer head-up display, 750 W sound system with 14 speakers, navigation, smartphone integration features, etc.
The safety will also be at the premium level with the number of the active driver aids. The model will be available with the self-parking technologies, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, etc.
2018 Audi Q2: Engine options
Audi will offer the 2018 Audi Q2 with the selection of different engine options including the diesel and petrol units but the availability will depend on the market.
The range of the TFSI engines will start with the 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit making 114 hp. More power will come from the 1.4-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine. It will deliver 148 horsepower. At the top of the petrol lineup, the 2.0-liter turbo four will generate 190 hp.
The TDI models will come with 1.6-liter or 2.0- liter engines. The smaller displacement will produce 114 hp while the latter will offer 148 hp.
The transmissions will include a six-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The base is the front wheel drive and available Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive.
2018 Audi Q2: Availability, Price
The 2018 Audi Q2 will arrive late this year or in early months next year. The price won’t change much from the current.
