Chevy Tahoe falls in the category of the full-size SUVs and it competes in the same arena with vehicles like Nissan Armada, Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, etc. This truck-based SUV has a primary mission of providing seating for big families and also of towing large loads. But this model also boasts attractive interior design and has the V-8 engine which provides plenty of power. What’s more, with the two-speed transfer case, it provides better than average off-road capability. It came redesigned for the 2015 model year and now we expect the 2018 Chevy Tahoe.
New for 2018:
Large SUVs have longer generation cycle than smaller models and the 2018 model year should not bring the mid-cycle update. For that, we should probably wait one or two years more. However, we don’t consider that as the bad thing because this model has received some important upgrades in years after the last redesign. The 2016 version brought standard touch screen interface, Apple Car Play capability, and among the rest, some safety features like forward collision warning and lane keeping assist. The 2017 model year added more safety features including low-speed automatic braking and teen-driver management feature. With all, the Tahoe is a well-rounded vehicle and no significant changes are expected for the 2018 model year.
2018 Chevy Tahoe: Styling, Cabin
It is hard to make such a big vehicle to look attractive but despite its large proportions and upright design which can be seen on other GM’s vehicles as well, the 2018 Chevy Tahoe will be pleasant for the eye. Crisp, straight lines and hard edges add to the look of this model as well as Chevy’s signature elements.
The model will also get some visual enhancements in upper trims and in available options which will make it even more classy-looking.
The story will be the same inside the cabin. It will be focused to deliver great comfort and practicality but this model will also feature modern interior design. Expect more than average quality of the materials and nice textures.
With attractiveness, the model will also offer high-level comfort in all three rows. Available luxuries will also make the ride more pleasant.
The new Tahoe will likely come in three main trims while will also offer additional packages like the Luxury and off-road-oriented Z71.
The base model will get remote entry, side assist steps, roof rails but also tri-zone climate control, power adjustable front seats, the MyLink infotainment system, Wi-Fi, HD radio, etc.
Upgrades in the higher trims will include leather upholstery, driver memory functions, unique and larger wheels, premium sound system, more safety features, etc.
Among the safety equipment, this model will offer everything you can think of including the low-speed emergency braking, lane departure warning and intervention, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and more.
2018 Chevy Tahoe: Performance, Efficiency
An official announcement regarding the engine hasn’t been available so far but we don’t expect a surprise in that context. The new 2018 Chevy Tahoe will likely get power from the familiar 5.3-liter V-8 engine but it might receive some power and efficiency improvements. In its current form, this engine can produce 355 hp and torque of 383 pound-feet.
A six-speed automatic transmission is currently the only available but Chevrolet might offer the new shift box with more gears in order to achieve better fuel economy. The current version earns 19 mpg combined with the rear-wheel drive while the four-wheel drive returns 1 mpg less.
If you want Tahoe with more off-road capability, the two-speed transfer case and the Z71 package will also be available.
2018 Chevy Tahoe: Arrival, Price
The current Tahoe is available from around $47, 200 and reaches above the mid-$60,000 in the range-topping version. The company hasn’t said anything about the price of the new 2018 Chevy Tahoe. But we expect it to stay close to the current range. The new Tahoe should arrive in late 2017.
