Jaguar Land Rover has an impressive range of crossover SUV models but all of them were Land Rover exclusive before Jaguar launched the F-Pace mid-size crossover SUV for the 2017 model year. With more sculpted body design than Land Rover’s models, impressive ride and handling, strong diesel and supercharged V-6 engines and spacious interior, this model has become an instant success.
Jaguar will serve some serious upgrades with the new 2018 Jaguar F-Pace which will further improve the position of this appealing car. The rival of the Macan, GLC and X3 will expand its engine range with the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium engine but will also add a new Portfolio trim option. A new Shell app for paying the gas by using model’s infotainment system will also be available. In addition to that, forward vehicle guidance and forward traffic detection are new safety features.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace: Appealing to the eye
Jaguar’s first crossover SUV with a more sculpted body is a welcomed refreshment in contrast to Range Rover’s slab-sided body design. The model has pure crossover profile and muscular front end with Jaguar’s styling elements. Tall mesh grille sits between the headlights which mimic those on the XF and XE sedans. The shape of the taillights also gets inspiration from mentioned models. The model also has large front air intakes and nicely sculpted hood.
Interior isn’t so expressive as the exterior styling but it is very functional and well equipped. Front seats are supportive and there is enough space for tall passengers in both rows. The cargo space is also great with maximum 63.5 cu ft and of 33.5 cu ft when rear seats are functional.
The model has standard 8-inch InControl Touch interface which can be upgraded with the 10-inch unit with the gesture control. A 12.3-inch adaptive instrument display is available to replace traditional gauges. The model also offers leather upholstery, up to 22-inch alloy wheels, unique trim accents, ventilated front seats, and much more.
New trim and safety features:
The new Portfolio trim comes with the 340 hp V-6 engine and also features 22-way adjustable Windsor leather seats. This trim also includes gloss ebony veneer, 20-inch wheels and three packages that are optional on the Prestige trim. The Portfolio models also have sports steering wheel with aluminum details.
The safety includes an array of advanced safety systems. The F-Pace debuted with the lane keeping assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, blind-spot monitoring with the rear cross-traffic alert. Jaguar adds two new features for the 2018 model year which are the part of the surround camera system. Forward traffic detection uses corner radars and camera in the grille to detect traffic crossing and visually alert the driver. Forward vehicle guidance displays the vehicle on the center display with clearance distances and front wheels angle helping the driver when parking or maneuvering.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace: Engine options
The new 2018 Jaguar F-Pace is bringing a new base engine for its new 25t version. A new 2.0-liter turbo four engine from the Ingenium family combines twin-scroll turbocharger with an upgraded direct injection system, variable valve timing and lift for improved efficiency and performance. A new entry-level engine can produce 247 hp and torque of 269 pound-feet. That would be enough to push the F-Pave to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds.
The F-Pace will again offer the 20d version with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. It produces 180 hp and torque of 318 lb-ft. A 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine provides 340 hp and 332 pound-feet of torque in its less powerful variant. The next-level version of this engine makes 380 hp.
All engines will work in the combination with the 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The diesel version will continue to return 26/33 mpg city/freeway. The V-6 should stay at 18/ 23 mpg. Jaguar hasn’t revealed EPA numbers for the new engine option.
2018 Jaguar F-Pace: Price
The price of the 2018 Jaguar F-Pace will go slightly upward despite no upgrades in the base equipment package. However, the new 20t version will cost $43, 060. The diesel on any trim level will add $1500 to the cost of the gasoline four-cylinder. With the V-6 engine, it will be $4200 more.
