If you are a luxury-oriented buyer that is looking for the crossover SUV with mid-size proportions, you should definitely consider 2018 Lincoln MKX. This model has been very successful for the brand. Of course, that doesn’t come just like that. But if you have the model that is based on Ford’s running gear and also features attractive and unique stilling, comfortable ride nature, strong standard equipment package and powerful V-6 engines, you should not worry.
New for 2018:
The MKX came as the redesigned model for the 2016 model year. The redesign equipped this model with the new handsome styling, new engine menu, the latest technology and premium interior. For the 2017 model, it has been unchanged. On the other hand, the 2018 MKX will bring more standard equipment, more accessible package options, new colors and updated technology.
2018 Lincoln MKX: Design, Styling
The new 2018 Lincoln MKX won’t change its current appearance radically. New exterior themes are possible but nothing much else. It will continue with benefits that the last redesign brought.
That means that model will feature a handsome and sleek design which has some obvious similarities with the Ford Edge model on which it is based. However, Lincoln has added its signature on this model and in a good way.
There will be old but attractive split-wing grille design and attractive headlights accentuated with LED DRLs. Strong and dynamic character line, angled rear pillar and the roofline that slopes back gently will help this model to look nice from the profile side as well.
The same will be with its rear side which will include attractive LED taillights and nicely sculpted tailgate.
It will be the same with model’s interior. High-quality materials mixed with aluminum and wood trim will cover all touch points and will provide an upscale feel. The front seats with power and other features will provide long-ride comfort and the same will be with the rear seats.
The model will also possess well-placed center stack with well-arranged controls and the latest SYNC infotainment screen interface.
Even the base models will offer features like dual zone climate control, high-quality upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, active noise cancellation, leather covered tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, etc. Standard will also be the SYNC infotainment system, satellite radio, 10-speaker sound system, etc.
The higher trim levels will bring upgraded upholstery, different design themes, more speakers, ventilated seats and upgraded power options, more safety features, etc. However, there will also additional equipment packages which will provide the next level of the customization.
As the family hauler, the new MKX will, of course, come with the latest safety features. It will include systems like blind-zone monitoring, lane departure warning and intervention, forward collision warning and mitigation and several new ones as well.
2018 Lincoln MKX: Performance options
In the engine department, the 2018 Lincoln MKX will offer two powerful and efficient V-6 engines while good suspension system and accurate steering will provide nice ride quality.
The standard engine should be a 3.7-liter V-6 which powers the current version. In its current form, it is good for 303 hp and torque of 278 pound-feet but some improvements are possible. The model could get new transmission system that will have more gears that the actual six-speed automatic.
The alternative for mentioned engine will be a 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6. It should produce 335 hp and torque of 380 lb-ft. There will be the standard front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive system.
As for the fuel economy, it should be around 20 mpg average for all configurations.
