Mercedes-Benz launched its smallest crossover SUV for the 2015 model year and for keeping it fresh, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA gets a mild update. Mercedes hasn’t changed anything about the power hardware and three trims options are again available. The profile also continues unchanged while some visual changes will be seen on all versions. Mercedes will also offer new wheel design and more standard features. The GLA also benefits from upgraded infotainment system, new instrument cluster and personalization options.
2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA: Refreshed look
Mercedes hasn’t changed anything about model’s hatchback profile but buyers will notice some changes on the front and rear ends. The front and rear bumpers feature more pronounced shape and LED taillights are available on all versions. The LED headlights are standard on the performance GLA45 version while coming as the option on the GLA250 models. The hotter GLA45 also has new front air dam and noticeable are also new air intakes. This version rides on the 19-inch alloys while the GLA250 duo gets revised 18-inch design.
For the additional personalization, Mercedes will also offer various package options. The high-performance appearance with AMG styling bits and wheels comes with the AMG Line exterior package. The current Night package is again available. The AMG Dynamic plus package boost the performance with a limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers and additional driving mode. Sports seat, 20-inch wheels and styling enhancements are available on the GLA45 with the AMG Performance Studio package.
Interior, new features:
Inside the cabin, 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA now offers standard 8-inch infotainment interface. The refreshed GLA-Class also boasts new instrument cluster and standard rearview camera. A new to the list of options is a surround view system.
Standard features also include a power liftgate, power front seats, 18-inch alloys, HD radio, upgraded infotainment system, etc. Available options add leather upholstery, heated front seats, keyless entry and ignition, blind-spot detection, etc. You can also get Harman Kardon sound system with 12 speakers. There are more driver safety aids available like the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, parking assist, and surround view camera.
The AMG-branded version adds sport exhaust system, suspension, steering and brakes. Standard LED headlights and 19-inch wheels are combined with unique exterior and interior trim in the AMG GLA45 version.
2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA: Performance
Nothing new on the performance front for the 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA. The GLA250 gets the power from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. 208 hp is available at 5, 500 rpm and torque of 258 lb-ft from 1250 to 4000 rpm. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission is a link between the front-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive.
The fuel economy for the GLA250 FWD should remain at 27 mpg combined while AWD fells to 26 mpg combined.
The AMG GLA45 will use a 2.0-liter turbo four which produces 375 hp at 6000 rpm while the torque of 350 lb-ft is reachable from 2250 to 5000 rpm. This version also gets special, AMG-crafted Speedshift 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. This performance version exploits sport-tuned suspension system, brakes, standard all-wheel drive system, and other enchantments. With that, it can speed up to 60 mph in about 4.3 seconds. The fuel ratings of this version should be at 25 mpg combined.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA arrives this summer. The base price will be $34, 250. The GLA250 with the all-wheel drive begins from $36, 325. The AMG fans will get this version from $51, 525.
