The current generation of Mitsubishi’s compact crossover ASX is closing to the end of its life cycle. The prototype has been spotted several times covered with more or less camouflage and it is clear now that 2018 Mitsubishi ASX will be the all-new model. It will be one of the last models which Mitsubishi will build alone as it will develop future vehicles in alliance with Renault and Nissan.
What should be new:
The upcoming ASX promises to be the all-new vehicle. It is obvious from spy photos that model will sport more aggressive exterior which will get inspiration from the XR-PHEV concept. The model might also be slightly larger and should get new interior with the latest technologies.
2018 Mitsubishi ASX: Design
Judging by the spy shots, the new 2018 Mitsubishi ASX will follow the design path defined by the XR-PHEV concept model. Thanks to that, the new model will sport more aggressive exterior and plus it should grow in size. The front end of the model will feature so-called “Dynamic Shield” design which will make it more aggressive. It will include slimmer headlights and different grille and bumper finishes depending on the trim level.
The profile of the model will feature sharp belt-line and fast-back roofline. Taller rear end will also add more aggressiveness to the profile look. The most of the changes on the exterior will be on model’s rear side. It will feature taller and more sculpted design which looks much sportier. Serious changes on model’s exterior also suggest that model will get deeper, structural changes which should lead to better performance and fuel efficiency.
Inside the model will get the latest technology. The new infotainment platform will boast larger center display and modernized interface. It will support Apple Car Play and Android Auto features. The model should also boost material quality and should also add more driver assistance aids.
2018 Mitsubishi ASX: Powertrains
We don’t have exact information about new ASX powertrains. The model is expected to get the range of petrol and diesel engines which will feature downsized design and will boost performance with turbochargers. The positive effect is also expected on model’s fuel economy.
On the other hand, aside from the conventional engines, the new 2018 Mitsubishi ASX should get plug-in hybrid powertrain. The design of this powertrain will be similar as on the mentioned concept model.

The arrival of the new 2018 Mitsubishi ASX should be in early 2018. We expect the price close to the current range.
