Porsche’s SUVs deliver hard to match mix of the sports car feel combined with the upscale interior and modern tech features. If you want that combination, the smaller Macan is brand’s best-selling model and the bigger Cayenne comes as the fully redesigned model for the 2018 model year. On the other hand, the Macan was all-new for the 2015 model year and the 2017 version brought new trim options, the base, sportier GTS and top-of-the range Turbo with the Performance Package. However, if you want to save some money but to get great performance and unique driving experience the 2018 Porsche Macan GTS will meet your standards.
The Macan GTS and the rest of the lineup are unchanged for the 2018 model year. However, Porsche is already working on the mid-cycle update of this model for the 2019 version. The refresh is expected to bring usual cosmetic updates and Panamera inspired interior modifications. More interesting changes will be in the powertrain lineup. Porsche will likely replace the current 3.0-liter V-6 units with more advanced 2.9 and 3.0-liter engines. The plug-in hybrid is also in cards.
2018 Porsche Macan GTS: Performance
The 2018 Porsche Macan GTS will employ impressive power hardware which will make it quick and capable yet it will provide excellent control and quick response.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 delivering 360 hp and torque of 369 lb-ft. It is 20 ponies and 30 lb-ft more than the S version V-6. The engine comes in the combination with the PDK 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive like the other Macans. However, the GTS model boasts unique suspension and upgraded braking system.
The GTS model employs 14.1-inch six-piston front brakes and has the 12.9-inch calipers in the back. This model also has the sport-tuned adaptive air suspension and it sits about 0.5 inches lower to the ground. Thanks to the uniquely tuned suspension and responsive steering, the GTS stays well planted on the ground and comes out confidently from the bends. Depending on the tires type, the model accelerates to 60 mph in around 4.5 seconds.
2018 Porsche Macan GTS: Exterior
Visually, the 2018 Porsche Macan GTS won’t change from the current version. The 2019 model year refresh will, on the other hand, bring the revised design of the bumpers, lighting clusters and some other subtle visual changes. The upcoming GTS, like the current version, will ride on the standard 20-inch Y-spoke wheels. The options will include the 19- and 21-inch options with available performance tires.
Interior of the model is also unchanged. The driver will have elevated driving position and standard sports seats come with the faux-suede inserts and 8-way power functionality. The GTS will also feature unique interior accents like the brushed aluminum details, red seatbelts and stitching on the dash and seats.
The latest PCM infotainment system will also be available and equipped with the smartphone integration features. The optional is the navigation unit and WiFi connectivity.
2018 Porsche Macan GTS: Price
Considering the 2018 Porsche Macan GTS returns unchanged, the model will have the similar price tag. The base version will start from around $60k.
