The current generation of the Range Rover Evoque has been here with the one big upgrade for the 2016 model year since its introduction in 2011. This brand’s smallest but probably most attractive compact SUV is available in three body styles including two-door and convertible variants. It comes equipped with all kind of luxury features but also boasts go-anywhere capability combined with an impressive fuel economy. After brand launched the new Velar SUV which sits above the Evoque in brand’s fleet, reports suggest that new-generation 2018 Range Rover Evoque should appear next year.
New for 2018:
The prototype model spotted while testing with some camouflage has been recognized as the second-generation Evoque but since Land Rover doesn’t comment on its future models it hasn’t said anything regarding this vehicle. However, trusted sources suggest that current version Evoque would evolve to the new generation with some styling changes combined with redesigned underpinning and engine lineup plus slightly wider and more spacious.
2018 Range Rover Evoque: Design, Platform
The new 2018 Range Rover Evoque, based on available information, should transition to the generation on the redesigned platform and with some styling tweaks. The current steel-bodied model will likely get the aluminum treatment. Further, with the improved lightweight underpinning, it should be lighter plus even more agile and efficient. Its track should also be slightly wider with the same length wheelbase which would provide better stability but also enhanced passenger comfort.
Stylingwise, the Evoque won’t surely be the large departure from the current version. British brand doesn’t change its design language radically when entering the new generation and the newest addition of this brand the Velar SUV is also the proof.
In that context, the new Evoque will get slightly changed grille design, slim headlights and new front bumper with widened air inlets. It will also feature slightly changed body work on its profile side with straight lines and raked roof. The rear side is said to get slimmer taillights and flattened bumper.
Interior of the new Evoque is the mystery at this moment. But we should not expect something much different from brand’s newest models. The wider body will add more interior comfort. The model will also benefit from the newest infotainment technology and upgraded safety.
The new infotainment system will surely take more functionality through the virtual controls. We will see would this model get the split-screen center cluster design like in the new Velar model.
However, what is sure, it will get leather upholstery, power front seats, automatic climate control, strong sound system and much more as the standard features. Higher-spec versions will get more luxurious treatment but it is too early to know the full specification of this model.
2018 Range Rover Evoque: Powertrains
The new 2018 Range Rover Evoque will be running on the newest Ingenium turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The current model exploiting the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine which delivers 240 hp and torque of 250 pound-feet. The new model should, however, get the new four-cylinder petrol engine with the power output of around 250 hp. The more powerful petrol version is also in cards.
Like the new Velar model, the new-gen Evoque should also get the diesel-powered US-spec version. The solution could easily be the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel from the Velar. This engine produces 180 hp and 317 pound-feet of twisting.
All models will be with the automatic transmission and all-wheel drive by default. Redesigned platform and suspension system will provide better driving dynamics. However, lighter structure and new engines will also provide better fuel economy.
2018 Range Rover Evoque: Arrival, Price
As we noted previously, the company hasn’t said anything about this model. Based on sourced information, the 2018 Range Rover Evoque is still far from its arrival. It should debut toward the mid-2018. As for the price, it should stay close the current range.
