The Cadillac XT5 is one of the best choices in the extremely popular mid-size crossover class. The model delivers confident and efficient ride combined with the spacious interior and handsome styling. The XT5 was all-new for the 2017 model year and is available in the US with the single powertrain. Cadillac is now working on smaller crossover which is confirmed to arrive as the 2019 XT4 but the luxury brand will reportedly offer a larger XT7 as well. Both models will draw inspiration from the XT5 and since this model is recently redesigned, the 2019 Cadillac XT5 won’t bring radical upgrades.
For the new model year, Cadillac won’t change much inside and out. What we should expect is more standard equipment including some of the active safety systems. Cadillac will also add new color options and possibly special edition version. There is also a possibility that new powertrain would be offered.
2019 Cadillac XT5: Design
The new XT5 version will continue on the C1XX platform which is also the foundation for several recently redesigned models like Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, etc. The styling of the model won’t also change and the same design language Cadillac will apply to the upcoming XT4 model.
The XT5 is an attractive crossover with crisp lines and up-scale elements. The shield-shaped grille comes in the combination with the sweptback headlights and LED running strips also add to model’s look. The profile is also attractive thanks to nice lines and details.
Inside the cabin, the XT5 is spacious and nicely designed. The max cargo capacity is 63 cubes while with the rear seats up, the available cargo room is 30 cubes.
The dash design is rich with shapes, lines and contrasting elements. An 8-inch touchscreen sits in the middle and comes with Apple Car Play and Android Auto features. The base version will also offer OnStar services including WiFi hotspot, 4G LTE connectivity plus wireless charging, Bose Sound system, etc.
The Driver Awareness package which is currently available from the Luxury trim could become a standard feature for the new model year. This package includes lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams.
2019 Cadillac XT5: Powertrains
Under the hood of the 2019 Cadillac XT5 will again be a 3.6-liter V-6 engine. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque in the current version. Cadillac pairs this engine with the 8-speed automatic transmission. The front-wheel drive is standard while the all-wheel-drive is optional on all trims except the base and standard on the top version. The fuel economy is 22 mpg combined.
Cadillac might add a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine should produce around 260 hp and torque of 295 lb-ft. There is also the possibility of sportier version powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6. However, Cadillac hasn’t confirmed either of these engine options.
2019 Cadillac XT5: Release, Price
Cadillac will likely follow the usual release sequence and we expect the 2019 Cadillac XT5 in the third quarter of 2018. The price range should again start around $40k.
