Infiniti presented the QX80 Monograph Concept in April at the New York Auto Show and announced the arrival of the updated QX80. The biggest, full-size and body-on-frame based SUV from Nissan’s upmarket brand that debuted at the 2017 Dubai Motor Show. The model comes as the 2018 model, not as the 2019 version as some expected, and the flagship SUV brings refreshed exterior and a few updates inside the cabin. The mechanics continue unchanged.
So, no the full redesign of Infiniti’s biggest model and since updated version arrived for the 2018 model year, the 2019 Infiniti QX80 won’t bring big changes.
2019 Infiniti QX80: Design
Like the recently refreshed version, the 2019 Infiniti QX80 will continue to be based on the same body-on-frame architecture that is found under the Nissan Armada. On the other hand, the Armada has the same DNA as the global Nissan Patrol.
Visually, the model will benefit from the recent updates which were evolutionary but refreshing. The model will have slim headlights with nice graphics which replaced old, bigger and lower positioned units. The grille version of the updated QX80 is also slightly different in shape and which is also the case with the lower front fascia section. The rear of the model also has reshaped taillights connected with the chrome strip.
The overall impression is that recent update made the QX80 to look more polished and less bulbous. The upcoming version, on the other hand, could bring new color options and exterior theme. The model will have standard 20-inch wheels and larger 22-inch option.
The interior of the QX80 hasn’t changed much with the recent update and the 2019 model won’t also bring notable changes either. The overall design is the same as before the update but the automaker added more soundproofing materials and reduced the noise level in the cabin. The fresh materials and new trim patterns were also added.
The new model will offer the latest tech and safety features. All versions will include the latest infotainment system, navigation, voice commands, satellite radio and more. The mandatory will also be power liftgate, three-zone automatic climate control, power and heated front seats, power steering wheel, etc.
Available upgrades will include the rear seat entertainment, Hydraulic Body Motion Control, upgraded leather upholstery, ventilated seats, premium sound system, etc.
2019 Infiniti QX80: Powertrain
The recent update hasn’t brought an upgrade to model’s mechanics and the 2019 Infiniti QX80 will also return with the same running gear. A 5.6-liter V-8 engine provides 400 hp and torque of 413 lb-ft. The engine comes in the pair with the 7-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive system is standard and the all-wheel drive optional.
The model can tow up to 8, 500 pounds. The fuel economy will stay at low 16 mpg at the combined cycle.
2019 Infiniti QX80: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Infiniti QX80 will hit marker in late 2018. The rear-wheel-drive version will cost close to $66k. The all-wheel-drive system will raise the price close to $69, 000.
