The big-dollar, three-row SUV has been in FCA’s plan since 2014 and expected to hit roads as the 2018 model. The company has confirmed that new Grand Wagoner is coming at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show but the production will likely be delayed for the one or two model years. The range-topping SUV will be on the production lines in FCA’s Warren plant in Michigan where the Ram trucks are being produced. However, before the production of the Grand Wagoner starts, the big investment must go for the plant retooling and capacity expanding. Because of that, at the best-case scenario, the high-end SUV would arrive as the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer but could also wait for the end of the decade.
2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Design
FCA announced the revival of the Grand Wagoneer but hasn’t said much more details about brand’s top-end SUV. The 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is, however, expected to use the updated version of the platform of the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the significant wheelbase stretch in order to make space for the third-row seat. The model should be sized as about the Dodge Durango and look very much as the significantly larger Grand Cherokee.
Two images which show the glimpse of model’s front and rear ends confirming predictions that Jeep won’t change its design approach radically. The front side of the Grand Wagoneer will adopt the slightly tweaked version of Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille and similarly shaped headlights like on the current Grand Cherokee. The headlights will, however, feature a number seven LED dot pattern which will also be seen on model’s taillights design. Further, the model is expected to feature similar body lines as the Grand Cherokee and will get a dual exhaust output setup.
About the interior, we don’t know much. What is sure, this model will be the most luxurious Jeep so far and three-row seat set up is certain. For the title the king of Jeep, this range-toping SUV will, of course, get the top-notch materials and tech features. However, more will be known sometime in 2018 when Jeep should give us the better insight to this model.
2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Powertrains
It’s too early to know the specification of the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer power options. Considering, this new SUV will ride on Grand Cherokee’s platform, we should also expect a similar and wide range of powertrain options. The V-6 petrol and HEMI V-8 engines will power the new luxury beast and diesel options will also be on the offer. The three-row SUV might also get the Hellcat-powered version and hybrid powertrain should not be excluded as well.
2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer: Arrival, Price
As the Brand Chief Mike Manley said, the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer could cost as much as $140k for the fully-loaded version. The brand has been busy with the new Wrangler and Wrangler-based truck model and we should expect the new flagship SUV sometime in 2019.
