The Range Rover Velar made the big waves in the auto industry and among buyers when appeared in all its beauty earlier this year. The new luxury crossover SUV from the British Automaker takes brand’s design language to the next level while shares many components and similar interior treatment with the Jaguar F-Pace. The aluminum platform and Ingenium line of engines including the diesel unit is common for two models. But despite being on the sale from the summer, brand’s engineers are already working on the more potent Velar version. To be more precise, brand’s special personalization department called Special Vehicle Operations is finishing the sport-focused 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR version.
When the vehicle carries the SVR tag, it means high-performance tuning, aggressive and unique exterior and interior styling. The vehicle of this kind is aimed at BMW M, Audi Sport, Mercedes AMG and Cayenne Turbo versions.
2019 Range Rover Velar SVR: Styling
The prototype version we expecting to go in the production as the 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR was caught while testing. What camo can’t hide is Velar’s sleek lines and shape but the SVR version obviously has more aggressive exterior treatment on the front and rear fascias as well.
For the sportier presence, the SVR version will boast more aggressive front and rear bumpers with larger air intakes. The rear also includes an integrated diffuser and pair of large exhaust tips. What we will also see in this version are larger brake calipers peaking bellow the racy wheels.
When it comes to the cabin, we haven’t peeked inside. However, what we should expect are sportier seats, unique trim, standard premium Meridian sound system and other features from the current higher-spec versions.
2019 Range Rover Velar SVR: Performance
When the focus is on the performance, the most potent version of the Velar now comes with the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6. This engine provides 380 hp but the 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR should have way more ponies under the hood. Some reports suggesting that JLR is developing a turbocharged version of the SVR engine but this unit won’t likely be ready for this model. What we should see under the hood is JRL’s 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine. This unit powers the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F Type SVR. For the Velar SVR, this engine will provide about 500 hp and similar torque.
The Velar SVR will also get a retuned 8-speed transmission, plus some specific chassis and suspension tuning.
2019 Range Rover Velar SVR: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Range Rover Velar SVR should go on sale in late 2018. As for the price, it will climb high above the current supercharged V-6 version which costs from $64, 200. The Velar SVR could reach $100k.
