Renault’s mini crossover, the Captur is one of the best-selling cars in brands lineup and more than a million units have been produced. The Captur looks attractive and has the smart interior design. Renault also offers appealing customization options for its Clio-based crossover. This model debuted for the 2013 model year and Renault updated this model for the 2017 version. However, the latest reports suggest that the Captur will switch to the second generation by the end of the decade. The redesigned model should arrive in 2019 after the arrival of the new-gen Clio, probably as the 2019 Renault Captur.
Reports say, that new-gen Captur will share the platform with new Clio model. The model should get reworked engine range and possibly electrified version. The styling and interior will also be modernized as well as the tech and safety equipment.
2019 Renault Captur: Design, New Platform
The current Captur shares the platform with the Clio and that won’t change for the new-generation version. However, the new-gen Clio will debut earlier and will debut on the new platform. The new architecture will be the Renault -Nissan’s CMF-B platform and the 2019 Renault Captur should be the second model exploiting this design.
Styling wise, the new-gen Captur should introduce sharper styling with some cues inspired by the Symbioz Concept. The model will get new headlights combined with the teardrop design of the daytime running lights. The new Captur will also have the skinny grille with brand’s logo and sharp creases on the hood. The profile will get more raked roofline while the rear will come with restyled taillights and rear bumper.
The interior of the new Captur should also introduce notable changes in terms of aesthetics, tech and materials. We don’t know would Renault expand the interior and cargo capacity. What’s sure, the new crossover will get the new-generation infotainment system from the new Clio. Renault might also offer the fully digitalized instrument cluster option.
The new Captur will also be safer thanks to the upgraded safety equipment. The possibility is also the Level 2 autonomous technology which controls steering and acceleration instead of the driver.
2019 Renault Captur: Powertrain options
With the new platform and design, the 2019 Renault Captur should also gain redesigned engine options. The range will again include small displacement probably a heavily improved version of the 0.9-liter TCe petrol engine. The model will also come with bigger and more powerful turbo four-cylinder petrol units. The 1.5-liter turbodiesel units will also continue. We will again get manual and automatic gearbox options.
Renault should also offer the electrified powertrain option during the generation life cycle. Powertrains will provide better performance and efficiency but we will have a clearer picture where more details appear.
2019 Renault Captur: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Renault Captur will follow after the debut of the new-gen Clio. The new Clio should debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show while the Captur will follow in 2019. We expect a modest price increase.
