The Subaru Crosstrek is highly flexible and versatile crossover SUV with seats for five but equipped with the standard all-wheel drive and extra off-road capability. The model actually looks like the tall-riding wagon but thanks to some enchantments it provides greater off-road and slippery conditions capacity while in same time delivers versatile and well-equipped interior. Subaru redesigned this model for the 2018 model on the same principles as the previous version. The second-generation version rides on the new chassis, has more flexible and refined interior but also boast improved powertrain.
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek will be the next version of this off-road capable model but after the recent redesign big change are not expected. Subaru will likely make some revisions to the equipment groups and price. New color options and options should also be on the offer. According to some reports, Subaru might also return the hybrid version after two years of discontinuation.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek: Design
The new 2019 Subaru Crosstrek won’t, of course, change mush on its styling and design after the 2018 model year redesign. Buyers should expect new body color options, possibly new wheel design and special exterior theme. The new exterior tweaks will come with the mid-cycle refresh likely for the 2021 or 2022 model year.
The second-generation Crosstrek is based on brand’s global platform from the Impreza sedan. The newest version rides on the longer wheel-base but the overhangs are shorter. These changes translate to more interior space and model should be easier to place in cramped cities.
Visually, the newest Crosstrek and upcoming version are very similar to the previous generation. Some difference can be detected on model’s front and rear ends. The front bumper is slightly lower and the headlights are slimmer and more modern. The model also has an athletic profile with the higher beltline and more cladding than on the previous generation.
Interior of the Crosstrek has been upgraded with new materials and equipment for the recent redesign. The cabin shares very similar design as the latest generation Impreza and the new version won’t bring much new in that regard.
Buyers will enjoy in comfortable front seats and reduced cabin noise. The base version will likely return with the 6.5-inch center display and of course with the smartphone support capability. Driver information display and a rearview camera will also be standard.
Upgrades will include, automatic headlights, heated front seats, 8-inch display, automatic climate control, premium sound system, LED automatic headlights, sunroof, etc. Available will also be adaptive cruise control, active lane control, forward collision warning, emergency braking, a blind-spot system with rear cross traffic alert, etc.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek: Powertrain
Powering the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek will be the same engine as in the newest 2018 version. A 2.0-liter direct-injected flat-4 engine can produce 152 hp. The engine will come in the combination with either six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. Subaru’s proven all-wheel-drive system will be standard and provide the all-weather and off-road capability.
The fuel economy will remain around 29 mpg combined with the CVT or around 25 mpg combined with the manual gearbox.
As we mentioned earlier, Subaru might return the hybrid version but we don’t have official confirmation or more details about this possibility.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek: Arrival, Price
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek should arrive in late 2018. The price will stay close to the current price range. The base Crosstrek is available from $21, 800.
