The newest VW Tiguan came as the all-new model for the 2018 model year. VW redesigned this model with keeping in mind what buyers in the US want. The redesigned Tiguan addressed the small cargo space and now also offers three rows of seats. The new version shares the same global platform which is found on models from the compact Golf to the full-size Atlas. The new-generation Tiguan also puts the emphasis on the cargo space and VW stretched it for almost 11 inches. Beside improved comfort and cargo capacity, this model gained the latest tech and reworked engine while keeping the price under the check.
With all improvements done on the 2018 version, the 2019 VW Tiguan will return in the same form and likely in the same trim options. We hope VW will offer a more potent version but no hints about new options yet.
2019 VW Tiguan: Design
The newest version of the Tiguan rides on the longer wheelbase and has about 11 inches in length in order to offer what American buyers demand. Thanks to the size enlargement, the model provides more legroom and cargo capacity is up to 73.5 cubes. With size improvements, the new Tiguan also brought more chiseled look with sharper edges and lines in the place of previous rounded approach.
The front end of the model shares the same design as the full-size Atlas using the same form for the grille, headlights and front bumper. For the better visual appeal, the newest Tiguan also has sharply chiseled profile line and more subtle lines on the hood. The rear also features horizontal approach and look nice and sleek.
The 2019 VW Tiguan won’t, of course, change its fresh exterior look but VW will likely offer new color combinations and possibly new exterior themes.
The interior and equipment will also continue in the same form and organization. The interior design is simple but effective and VW uses high-quality materials. The equipment is also up to the latest standards.
The model offers the latest Car-Net App Connect system in all versions and larger display comes after the base trim. Available will also be a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and premium Fender sound system. The Tiguan will also offer the suite of advanced safety systems. There will be lane departure warning and intervention, parking camera system, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, etc.
2019 VW Tiguan: Mechanics
We won’t see the changes in model’s mechanics for the 2019 model year. The more powerful engine options would be a nice addition to the 2019 VW Tiguan but VW hasn’t promised that. The hybrid version is also the possibility but no evidence at this time that VW will offer this version.
What is sure, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will again power most if not all 2019 Tiguans. The engine can produce 184 hp and torque of 221 pound-feet. The front-wheel drive will come as standard and all versions will offer an option for the all-wheel drive. The 8-speed automatic transmission will not have an option.
The fuel economy will stay on 24 mpg combined with the FWD. With the power on all wheels, the score will be 23 mpg combined.
2019 VW Tiguan: Arrival, Price
Summer 2018 is the period when we expect the 2019 VW Tiguan. The price range should again start at around $25, 000.
